It's A Mess!!
Mood:  surprised
Topic: Gardening
It is getting away from me. The weeds are rampant, trying to keep up!!! Started trying to revise the very front border. Taking out the suculants and putting in lavenders and heathers. Think it will be nice!!

Summertime
Yahoo! My dahlias are starting to bloom. Summer usually starts around July 5 here (no scorcher 4's for us, although this one was pretty warm - mid 70's) My ongoing drip irrigation project is well underway. Little by little, I will get it done. Maybe by the time I go on vacation, the house sitter will only have to turn on two or three water connections, rather than 10. My butterfly bushes are well in bloom and some of my early flowers have already spent themselves. I am starting to redo the stip by the walkway to use mostly lavender, heather and sedums.

Near the end of May and we are finally just getting started. Rainy after a very dry winter. My irises are starting to bloom. I'm in the process of renovating beds which I began last fall. Starting to look better, but have quite a few weedy beds.

Fall Cleanup In Full Swing
Mood:  cheeky
Well as usual, I don't get much into this journal in the summer. It is now fall and the leaves are turning. It is still warm, but getting a real nip in the air. My front garden has gone amok this summer, getting too crowded and weedy. Too little time for everything. I finally got all of my irises divided. I am now working on renovating the front. I am taking out the nice barberry because it got too big for the space and skewered me every time I walked by. I am opening up that area and putting in a path and beds for smaller plants. I am moving several other things around. I did few vegetables this year (tomatoes and red runner beans). I left my veggie beds for flowers. I put my dahlias back there and they are blooming beautifully. I need to thin the strawberry bed...it is all runners now, and weed. Several bags full of weeds.

Spring is Sprung!!
Mood:  cheeky
Topic: Gardening
It's Spring!! Finally!! My early rhodies have already been blooming and my Red Flowering Current is in full bloom. I finally have everything pruned and my sod is finished. The $50 peony I thought died in the real cold snaps we had in November and January survived and is doing well. We are starting on the flower beds now. I really like this time of year!!!

Let's Get Gardening
Mood:  cheeky
Topic: Gardening
Yahoo!! This is sure easier than uploading files every time I update my journal. Maybe that's why you see so many gaps. :-)

The Flower and Garden Show has come and gone. I bought two clematises to train over the new trellis we put in the back yard. My house mate is in Paris and I am making some surprises. I am putting in raised beds in the back yard. (About time!) I bought stepping stones and have started putting them around. I also bought another vine to provide some privacy from the neighbors. I hope to get everything done before she comes back.
